Former NSW Labor leader Jodi McKay has announced that she is stepping down from parliament, triggering another by-election in the states.

Ms. McKay, who resigned as opposition leader earlier this year, posted on A statement Sunday afternoon confirming that she would step down as MP for Strathfield after 15 years in Parliament.

Ms. McKay is the fifth NSW MP to step down from Parliament in the last month, after the former Prime Minister Gladys Berejiklian, Deputy John Barilaro, Transport Secretary Andrew Constance and Holsworthy MP Melanie Gibbons.
