The Pittsburgh Steelers are a high school member due to injury and are reaching out to the former West Virginia -Star Karl Joseph to add depth to her secondary school.
As a former first-round pick, Joseph will make his Steelers debut in a game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Heinz Field. As a safe trader, Joseph takes the spot on game day from cornerback Cameron Sutton, who is out of uniform due to a groin injury.
Joseph was called up from the practice team to play. Teams are allowed to use two « calls » from the training roster per player per season. The Steelers chose to use Joseph in place of the active Ahkello Witherspoon, a cornerback they traded in for at the end of training camp.
As number 14 of the Raiders in 2016, Joseph started for the Cleveland Browns last season, including their playoff win at Heinz Field when he touched down Maurkice Pouncey’s misguided snap in the first game of scrimmage of a wild – Card playoff game.
Sutton was previously out for Sunday’s game, as was recipient James Washington. Washington suffered a groin injury during training on Thursday. They join defensive lineman Carlos Davis as Steelers who are inactive due to injury. Davis is missing his fourth game in a row with a knee injury.
The Steelers’ healthy scratches are Witherspoon, No. 3 quarterback Dwayne Haskins and rookie linebacker Buddy Johnson.
