The Galaxy is in sixth place in the Western Conference, still above the playoff line but by a narrow margin, with Vancouver lurking in eighth place.
Now, after an almost two-week hiatus, the final section towards the playoffs begins with the Galaxy, which will host the Portland Timbers on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Dignity Health Sports Park.

First up are the Timbers (14-10-4), who are currently unbeaten in eight games (7-0-1) and are working their way up to fourth place in the conference (46 points). Meanwhile, the Galaxy is stuck in a winless series of nine games.
« You’ve had a great run, » said Vanney of Portland since the teams’ second meeting. “They are a mature team, do not make a lot of mistakes and are very good and dangerous on the counterattack.
« In this section, I think they were a little more opportunistic about taking their chances when they got them.
