Defensive line manager Chad Wilt is on his way to Indiana, two sources told Pioneer Press on Monday morning. Wilt is named Defensive Coordinator for the Hoosiers, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Wilt, who joined Minnesota after a season in Cincinnati, will succeed safety coach Joe Harasymiak, who was named defensive coordinator at Rutgers on Friday, and tight ends coach Clay Patterson, who took on tight ends in Colorado on Sunday / Passing Game Coordinator has been appointed.
These are two defensive assistants from the Minnesotat unit who ranked in the nation’s top 10 in 2021 and later took on leadership roles in other Big Ten programs. Head Coach P.J. Fleck often talks about helping his coaches climb the coaching ladder, and these are the best examples yet.
Wilt, who has been in Minnesota for two seasons, helped develop the defensive ends Boye Mafe and Esezi Otomewo, two players who went to the Senior Bowl and the NFL that year.
