As reported for the first time by our sister site Deadline, Germann is stepping down as a regular series before the finale of the 17th season (broadcast on Thursday, June 3) – although he could reappear as a guest star.

His departure will be canceled with that of Jesse Williams, whose Dr. Jackson Avery is advertised tonight after 12 years. Read our full round-up.

« Greg Germann is a comic book genius and we are so happy that he has brought his talents to our show over the past few years, » Grey’s showrunner Krista Vernoff said in a statement to Deadline. « We will miss Greg terribly every day – but we plan to see Tom Koracick again! »
