CM – « He was soccer »: NFL icon John Madden dies suddenly at the age of 85

NFL icon John Madden, who starred in the video games that brought America’s game to a new breed of fans in Australia, has died at the age of 85.

Madden coached the Oakland Raiders to a super in 1976 Bowl win, but withdrew from the role at the age of 42, partly for fear of flying.

After that, he became an even more influential figure, delivering exuberant comments with simple explanations to explain the NFL to the masses. </ P "We know him as the Oakland Raiders Hall of Fame coach and as a broadcaster who worked for all the major broadcasters, but most of all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather," said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

« There will never be a John Madden again, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he has done to make football and the NFL what it is today. »
