CM – Hideki Matsuyama finished the second round on Saturday and is two behind the lead at the Olympics

Hideki Matsuyama finished his second round on Saturday with a birdie and a par, two strokes away from the 36-hole lead.

KAWAGOE, Japan – Official officials were battling for the second round of the men’s Olympic golf competition early Saturday when the field was back on schedule after numerous weather delays.

Hideki Matsuyama was one of 16 players who made their second Round ended early Saturday with a par on the last hole for 7-under 64 and a place in the last group of the day next to leader Xander Schauffele and Mexican Carlos Ortiz. Matsuyama is alone in third place with 9 under par and two strokes behind Schauffele.

“My feeling is not that great, but I’m going into the weekend in good shape. That’s why I want to do my best, ”said Matsuyama.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout also had to complete his second lap on Friday after a bizarre finish. The South African was about to hit his 4-foot putt for bogey in 18th place when the Wetterhorn sounded. Since it was a ban due to dangerous weather, he was not allowed to finish his lap and returned to putting on Saturday.

The third lap is scheduled to start at 9:30 am (local), 8:30 pm. Friday (ET), with groups of three on the first and 10th tee.

Australian Cameron Smith spiced up his hair for Tokyo, and you’ll never guess the name who did it.

Some thought the athletes’ village was an inconvenience at the Olympics. Not Carlos Ortiz – even if his roommate is too loud.

Xander Schauffele took the 36-hole lead at Kasumigaseki Country Club by breaking the Olympic record with an 8-under 63 with three straight birdies.
