Twin girls have died in a house fire that was believed to have burned a candle in northern NSW.
Emergency services arrived at the one-story residence in Goonengarry, west of Byron Bay, just after 4 a.m. on Sunday called after two children were reportedly smoke inhaled.
Police and paramedics performed CPR on both girls but could not be resuscitated.
Detectives will be working with fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire, but initial reports suggest that a candle may have burned in the house.
