CM – How CQ buyers can show their support on this Anzac day


Central Queenslanders can support local service men and women by purchasing select items from Coles this week.

The Australian supermarket announced Wednesday that it had launched a fundraiser to help veterans support agency Bravery Trust By Anzac Day, 50 cents of every packet of Coles Brand biscuits or biscuits bought in stores in the area went directly to Bravery Trust, a charity that serves more than 800 veterans and around 3000 family members of veterans financially supported.

Customers can also choose to donate at the checkout in the store. The funds will help the charity fund medical fees, food vouchers, energy bills and training costs for Australian service workers.

The fundraiser came after new data from Bravery Trust showed that COVID-19 posed major challenges for veterans and their families would have. The organization has received 10,000 calls for help since the beginning of the pandemic and has seen a 20 percent increase in support requests since then. Funding for the pandemic ended last month.
