John Terry has left his role as Aston Villa’s assistant manager after three years on Dean Smith’s coaching team.

The former Chelsea captain becomes the newest member of the English World Cup -Kaders 2006 moving into a career in management.

Here’s PA news agency’s Rebecca Johnson to see how other members of that squad have fared.

The former Chelsea midfielder started his coaching career at the Derby in 2018 and had a successful season with the Rams that led them into the championship play-offs but were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the final. Lampard then returned to his and Terry’s old turf, becoming Chelsea manager in July 2019 and leading them to fourth place in the Premier League in the 2019-20 season. In the middle of the 20/21 season, however, he was replaced by Thomas Tuchel after a bad form.

Just months after his former English teammate Lampard left Derby, Rooney signed for the club and eventually became a player / manager after Phillip Cocu was sacked by the Rams. The former Manchester United and Everton striker became full-time Derby boss at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, ended his playing career and brought the Rams to safety by a narrow margin with a 3: 3 against Sheffield Wednesday on the last day by just one point stay awake.

But the former right-back tried his hand at the coaching bench at Valencia with a short but unsuccessful stint. He only managed 14 points from 16 league games and suffered a 7-0 beating against Barcelona.
