The pop star teamed up with Cardi B on Friday for her long-awaited single “Rumors”.
“This was the first time we’d done [really long] nails, so it was very, very excited, « Lizzo’s long-time nail artist Eri Ishizu told Page Six Style.
After all, what better way to work with Cardi than to try the » WAP « rapper’s famous long claws?
» It just felt inconvenient to keep a normal day, so we’ve always talked about doing this [length] when we’re doing a special project, « added Ishizu.
And » Rumors « is certainly something Special and marks Lizzo’s first single release since 2019. She teased the melody last week with a look at the cover, where the focus was on the metallic manicures of the two musicians.
« The cover [nails] took a long time », said Ishizu about the custom press-ons she creates Has. « I think it took about two and a half hours because I had to place all the stones individually. »
For the almost 10 centimeter long manicure, she combined Swarovski crystals with tiny gold chains, which Lizzo used for the cover shoot also combined with opulent Schiaparelli jewelry.
The carefully created claws of the “Truth Hurts” singer were also a scene stealer in the music video, in which, in addition to one of the glittering “nail accessories” selected by her stylist, she had two more gold-embellished imprints -Styles worn by Ishizu, Brett Alan Nelson.
Nelson and Ishizu collaborated on the fashion-conscious video in which Lizzo also burns real incense in her bracelets, rocks a record-breaking 43-and-a-half-foot braid and twerkt with Cardi in « Cleopatra ». -Style outfits.
« When she did the scene with Cardi B, I created this [nail] look [in] dazzling white to really match her outfit, » said Ishizu, who is also a set made of golden, glittery snap fasteners that were not visible as in the clip.
While the cover – which was « shot at the end » – had nail stickers that could be « popped off », Ishizu put adhesives on the music video to ensure that the designs remained reliable.
« The makeup artist and Lizzo started dancing to Beyoncé’s songs, » Ishizu recalled of the preparation process. « It’s always such good energy. »
And with the star getting off to a brilliant start, Ishizu predicts that both she and Lizzo « are about to get really excited about new projects. »
