CM – HPCL is doing everything it can to support India’s green push

The company recently signed a pact with another state-owned company, Convergence Energy Services Limited, to set up a charging infrastructure in some of its filling stations.

State-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has partnered to build electric vehicle charging infrastructure in its 18,000 retail stores across the country to support India’s green mobility push. The company recently signed a pact with another state-owned company, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), to set up charging infrastructure in some of its gas stations.

HPCL also has an agreement with Tata Power to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its outlets in cities and highways. Tata Power has around 500 public chargers in over 100 cities. Also, Shuchi Anant Virya – a joint venture between Lithium Urban Technologies and Fourth Partner Energy – recently announced its partnership with HPCL to build an electric vehicle charging network in India. The JV currently owns and operates EV charging stations in Gurugram and Pune.

This renewed boost for electric vehicles is taking place against the background that the government is modifying the program for the faster introduction and production of hybrid and electric vehicles (Fame) by increasing the incentive for electric two-wheelers to 15,000 / KWh and allocating the aggregation of demand for electric three-wheelers Has. Bicycle and electric bus components to the CESL parent company Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL). The center also extended the Fame program, created to curb vehicle emissions and fossil fuel dependency, by two years to March 31, 2024.

« The agreement provides that CESL and HPCL will work together to set up electric vehicle charging points in many cities including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune over a period of 10 years, » CESL said in a statement on July 30.

Electric vehicle prices are expected to be at the level of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles before 2025. As a result, Indian energy companies are turning to the country’s green economy.

« CESL and HPCL also identify major highways across India on which adequate charging infrastructure can be installed, » the statement said.

CESL is also working on a « major challenge » among nine major subways for the allocation of electric buses, as previously reported by Mint. These cities are Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Surat and Pune where these buses are offered on an operating cost model (Opex), meaning private operators are selected based on the lowest charges per kilometer bus quoted from them .
