CM – Hull KR defies adversity and injury to advance to the Super League semi-finals

This was a breathtaking surprise, one that perhaps saw none other than a red and white persuasive force coming, as Hull Kingston Rovers, decimated by injuries but full of energy, remarkably advanced to 80 minutes before the first Super League Grand Final.

The Robins are experiencing a real renaissance under Tony Smith, who at the beginning of his career revived the fortunes of Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves and showed a monumental defensive feat to defeat their high-profile hosts.

Smith’s team must now in the Play-off semifinals will travel to the Catalans Dragons next Thursday, where the win would bring them to the title decision at Old Trafford on Saturday 9 October.

In the other semifinals, Leeds will face defending champions St Helens, but the spending Warrington season is over
