CM – I picked the right game to watch

From Klas Stolpe

I don’t watch a lot of professional sports unless they’re in playoff mode and then I still wait until I feel like every player, no matter the sport, is playing like they’re still thinks this is his senior year of high school. You know … for the love of sport, not for money.

Anyway, the last game of the NFL regular season (272 games over 18 weeks to be precise) ended in one last game with no time on the clock, in overtime, and players on both sides reacted as if it were this is the Texas state championships in high schools. That said, here’s the pro report on what’s ahead of us in the playoffs: AP (Rob Maaddi) – Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders played for the win, beating the Los Angeles Chargers out of the playoffs and sent the Pittsburgh Steelers to the tournament.

The NFL playoff field was set when the Raiders took the final wildcard spot on Sunday night by taking the Chargers in a wild, all-out game Overtime defeated.

The Raiders could have cracked their post-season ticket and gave the Chargers a seat by taking a knee in the last game. Instead, Daniel Carlson kicked a 47-yard field goal when extra time ran out for a 35-32 win.

The Steelers extended Ben Roethlisberger’s career with an overtime win of their own and had to wait until the Chargers-Raiders didn’t finish in a tie.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t give up against Carolina, and the reigning Super Bowl champions got the number 2 when Jimmy Garoppolo rallied San Francisco behind the Rams.

A rematch of the NFC Championship against Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay is imminent if the Buccaneers and Packers keep winning.

First, Brady and the Bucs face Philadelphia, while Green Bay has a week off.

« These are our toughest opponents all year, » said Brady, who lost four years ago with New England in the Super Bowl to Nick Foles and the Eagles. “We’re playing against a team that is very talented and that made it this far for a reason. We have to do everything we can to achieve victory. This is a football team that played really well, good on offense, very good defense, good front, very healthy. It’s going to be a very tough game. «

Tennessee battled Houston to secure the AFC bye, pushing the two-time conference champions Chiefs into second place.

Humble Jacksonville angered Indianapolis and paved the way for Roethlisberger and the Steelers to a victory in Baltimore.

Joe Burrow led the Bengals from worst to first in the AFC North and had a chance to skip the final game while Carr and the Raiders made a late comeback survived to take their fourth straight win.

Burrow, dynamic rookie receiver Ja’Marr Chase, and Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon present a tough challenge for the Raiders who battle it out at the end of their 70-minute marathon Los Angeles have been gassed. Cincy hasn’t won a playoff game in 31 years. The Raiders last won a playoff game in 2003. Both teams are due. Burrow and the Bengals come out on top because they’re rested are.

Rivals AFC East split two games last month, each of which won away. The Patriots beat the Bills 14-10 while relying solely on their running game as rookie QB Mac Jones threw just three passes. Buffalo responded with a 33-21 win in New England three weeks later. Josh Allen led the Bills to the AFC title game last year and they’re back on the hunt for the third straight year to prove something. Bill Belichick is aiming for his first playoff win without Brady in New England. After that, he should still be looking for it.

The Eagles have come a long way since their 28:22 home loss to the Buccaneers in Week 6. Sophomore rookie coach Nick Sirianni and QB Jalen Hurts led Philly from a 5-2 start back to an unlikely playoff spot. They did it by relying on the barrel. But Tampa has one of the tightest run defenses in the league, led by Nose Tackle Vita Vea.

The troubled Bucs lost key players en route to injury and Antonio Brown to drama. You still have Brady and he’s enough. At the age of 44, he led the NFL in yards passing, TDs, completions and tries.

With the elimination, Garoppolo and the 49ers overcame a 17-0 deficit to keep NFC West Champion Rams in overtime Beat 27:24. San Francisco has a strong assault, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, but Dallas has made great strides in defense under freshman coordinator Dan Quinn and sensational seasons of rookie linebacker Micah Parsons and cornerback Trevon Diggs.

It will difficult for the Niners to keep up with Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper and the star-studded Cowboys offensive.

Roethlisberger had another chance to play but his last was to come in Kansas City . Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs got off to a difficult start. Mahomes has Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and too many options for the Steelers.

The first playoff game on Monday night features another matchup of division rivals. Like the Patriots and Bills, the Cardinals and Rams split in the regular season, with each team winning away.

Arizona missed a chance to win the division by losing to Seattle at home. The Cardinals went 4-6 after a 7-0 start. It’s a new season now. Kyler Murray led Arizona to a formidable away win in Dallas in week 17, and the Cardinals need James Conner to play after taking off the Seahawks with an injured rib.

Matthew Stafford joined the Rams to take in to be successful in the playoffs. He is aiming for his first career win after the season, with a superstar cast around him led by Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. on offense and Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on defensive. Though Los Angeles played better on the street, Stafford should finally take that win and keep the possibility alive of the Rams becoming the second team to play a Super Bowl at their home stadium.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP, Paul Newberry) – Nick Saban stepped off the plane in cold Indianapolis with a look that caught the attention of his players. Somehow, the 70-year-old coach always finds ways to get in touch with guys who are young enough to be his grandchildren. This time it was a leather bomber jacket.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Georgia’s coach Kirby Smart got a glimpse of the things it takes to build a college football juggernaut that works for Nick Saban in Alabama for eight seasons.

What follows are stories from around the country and the world that this old man found interesting to summarize. If you’re not entertained, I’ll do it on the overstimulation of the National Football League’s final regular season weekend.

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Juneau-Douglas High School: Kalé Hockeyteam ended its road trip to the Kenai Peninsula with valuable experience and strong competition, but three defeats against opponents of the Railbelt Conference, including a fall against Soldotna 4- 3 on Friday and 3-1 to Kenai on Saturday.

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – For the second year in a row, the Juneau-Douglas High School: Kalé girls’ basketball team has proven it can play with one of the best teams in the state, but for the second year in a row the Crimson Bears fell on their home court against this Ketchikan team and lost 42-35 in their Southeast Conference match against the Lady Kings.

Winds are east at 19.6 MPH (17 KT). The pressure is 1003.9 mb and the humidity is 85%.
