JACKSON COUNTY, Wisconsin (WEAU) – According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Interstate 94 is impassable Thursday morning from Osseo to Northfield in west-central Wisconsin.
According to Wis. State Patrol Sgt. Sean Berkowitch, multiple accidents and freezing conditions have closed I-94 from Osseo, Trempealeau County to Northfield, Jackson County.
Traffic will be diverted east and west. Berkowitch said vehicles cannot go up the hills on this section of I-94, causing several vehicles to get stuck. Additionally, at 7:15 am, State Patrol and other first responders were working on four or five active crashes and a half-fire icy road, saying that the number of vehicles involved is not 100, but that by 8:00 am, « lots of cars, lots of tractor-trailers « Are involved
The rerouting for traffic going east is to exit Highway 10 at Osseo, travel south on Highway 53, and return east on Highway 121 to I-94. For traffic going west, they would follow the opposite direction of those directions. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation closed I-94 at 6:55 a.m. Thursday.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement saying that all roads in the county were ice-covered and slippery and urged people to stay home and do that Restrict travel. Chippewa Falls police reported Thursday morning that they were working on multiple slips and accidents, particularly along the county’s two major highways, Highway 29 and Highway 53.
According to the Wis. DOT was experiencing ice-covered conditions on every major road in west-central Wisconsin including Highways 8, 10, 29, 35, 53, 63 and Interstate 94 as of 8:30 a.m.
An accident closed Highway 25 south of Durand on Thursday at 7:14 a.m. in both directions, Wis. DOT and the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office. The crash was caused by a wooden truck rolled over.
