CM – India v Australia: Smriti Mandhana downplayed waist-high no-ball controversy, saying « very difficult to judge » – Firstcricket News, Firstpost

Mandhana, who made a 94 ball 86 to help India post 274 for 7 in 50 overs, said she was happy to be back on the runs.

Mackay: India’s opening bat Smriti Mandhana tried to downplay the no-ball controversy in the final of the second ODI against Australia on Friday, which helped the hosts expand their winning streak to 26 games.

India and their best Bowler Jhulan Goswami couldn’t hold her nerve in a dramatic final when Beth Mooney’s brilliant undefeated Hundred secured a five-wicket win for Australia – her 26th in the trot.

« We don’t really have the ball as a team yet We were out on the field so it’s very difficult to tell if it was a waist-high no-ball or not, it’s too early for us to call, we need to see the ball and we’ll look at it.

« If these things work in your favor you are really happy but you would not add to the controversy. I haven’t really looked at the ball yet, « Mandhana said during post-game media interaction.

The left-handed woman who made a 94-ball 86 to help India post 274 for 7 in 50 overs said , she was happy to be back on the run.

« I was thinking about where I could improve, the support and everyone were behind me. I’m so happy to have made some runs, especially in the first innings.

Coming on 86 hurt. I would have felt better if I had continued, « said the southpaw, who was struggling for form lately, after the knock.

Mandhana said the bowlers were doing very well and it was a perfect game for India, apart from the last 20 overs.

« The pacemakers were really good. It was a perfect game for us up to the last 20 overs. Our pacemakers made very good use of the bouncers. They will definitely be on the pink Ball (Test) happy, but our eyes are on the third ODI, « She added.

When asked if the Indian players lost some chances, Mandhana said there was room for improvement in all departments.

« Yes, definitely, there is room for improvement in all departments. Hitting, bowling and fielding. Fielding, I thought we were good at patches, but we can definitely work a lot on our fielding.

» We have in worked hard for the past three years. It’s a process. In today’s game the fielding could have been a little better. Dropped catches always hurt and Beth Mooney’s catch hurt, « she added.

She also said the rope was a big factor making it difficult for the spinners to grab the ball.

» When the rope comes, our spinners look different, it’s very difficult to grab the ball. But that can’t be an excuse. As I said, these are things that we practiced, we knew there would be rope, a big factor  » added the stylish southpaw.

Mandhana praised Richa Ghosh, who made a 50-ball 44, and said she showed how to craft an innings.

« Richa Ghosh definitely has her power – Showed hit skills and shown how she can create innings today. It’s a positive thing for us that she can beat in any situation, « she added.

Mooney (125 not out), of the Aussies headed home and helped the host extend the winning streak to 26 ODI games, said: « From 4 to 40, it’s pretty remarkable that we came back from it to win the game. «

About the no-ball on the last delivery for the height, she said: » I spoke to some people on the sidelines, they said it was a clear one No ball. I wasn’t sure it was a bit of a tight call in the end. «

Mooney said she hopes to get better and be in the middle and help the team win.

You also attributed the way in which Indian bowlers Jhulan Goswami and Meghna Singh bowled at the start of the innings.

« The way India bowled deserves a lot of credit. Jhulan and Meghana, they certainly worried some of the best players in the world. It was an uphill battle out there to fight my ego. Luckily I was able to hang « until the end and see the team above the line, » she added.

India desperately need Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana to fire to put pressure on Australia after receiving a nine-wicket hammer in the opening game of the three-game series.

Australia Women vs India Women, 2nd ODI Live Cricket Score Updates: What a cricket game it was! Goswami did well not to set any limits, but India’s poor field formation, combined with the no-ball required in the last delivery, let the game slip out of the hands of the visiting team again. Australia, meanwhile, continues its winning streak at ODIs, this is their 26th straight win 50-over and this would be perhaps their toughest win in the last series of games to date.

Head coach Matthew Mott said Vlaeminck, who did not bowle Thursday, would be the only player unavailable for next week’s ODIs in Mackay and the subsequent Test in Gold Coast.
