CM – Investigation opened after fire broke out at Melbourne detention hotel


Refugees and asylum seekers were evacuated from an internment hotel in Melbourne after rescue workers were called to « multiple fires ».

Police said a person with smoke inhalation was taken to hospital and an employee of the hotel was attacked. < Crews were called to the Park Hotel in Carlton at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after an automatic fire alarm went off.

A spokesman added: « All occupants have been safely evacuated and several patients have been taken to the care of the paramedics Brought by Ambulance Victoria.
