Get ready, Jets fans. We have bad news regarding the health of the New York Jets.
Thursday’s training started sourly when it became known that Carl Lawson – arguably the Jets’ most important defensive player – had been carted off the field with a leg injury. The bad news didn’t stop there.
Wide receiver Denzel Mims hobbled off the field with a coach shortly afterwards. Previously, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins left training with an « apparent injury, » according to The Athletic’s Connor Hughes.

It’s hard to say how quiet it got in this place when Carl Lawson, the undisputed star of the #Jets training camp, went down.
No further details are known at the moment, but this would be a massive, terrifying blow to the defense if forced to miss the time
This has been one of the best off-seasons in recent Jets history, so of course this is a potentially devastating blow.
Carl Lawson is an integral part of a Jets defense that is set to be pretty decent in the coming season. Robert Saleh’s specialty is helping the defense make miraculous turns like he did with the San Francisco 49ers. But you can’t replace a player like Lawson.
Meanwhile, Sheldon Rankins should start right next to Lawson on the defensive. Denzel Mims should also make an important contribution, but in the offensive area. It is unclear how severe both injuries are.
Let’s hope this does not mark the beginning of yet another unfortunate string of events for the New York Jets that simply cannot take a break these days.
