Legendary Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim saw his son Buddy emerge as Syracuse’s most dangerous offensive player when the Orange ran another surprise run in the NCAA tournament in March. Now his older son will join them in Orange for the 2021-22 season.

Jimmy Boeheim made his first three college seasons at Cornell, leading the team in 2019-20 as a junior with 16.7 points per game. The 6-foot-8 forward added 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. The Ivy League has canceled the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19.

Boeheim brings some shots to the Syracuse forecourt after knocking down 35 percent of his three-pointers in the second year in 2018/19. His percentages declined the following year as he was tasked with handling more of the goal load but should with his younger brother, point guard Joe Girard and five-star freshman Benny Williams helping with the floor placement he attracts a lot of looks.

Boeheim’s transfer to his father’s program was long awaited. He made it official this afternoon and announced the move on his Instagram account.

Jimmy Boeheim decided to go his own way in Cornell instead of playing for his father after high school. He tells Syracuse.com that he believed he was going to finish his college career in Ithaca, but after the Ivy League decision, his thinking changed on the matter.

« I honestly think the opportunity with mine Brother and playing for my dad and for the program that made me fall in love with the game outweighs the other part you mentioned, « he said. “I love Syracuse. I never stopped loving Syracuse. So it was pretty much a no-brainer. “

According to the report, other ACC trainers contacted Jim Boeheim to see if he was going to Syracuse or if he would look elsewhere, indicating that there is serious interest from other schools. Ultimately, if he wanted to play for another school, it is fitting that it should be for the Orange.

Boeheim made his college debut at the Carrier Dome, scoring 11 points against his father’s program in his first game for Cornell. He was kept at nine points in the 2018 game but scored 25 points in the 7-of-16 shooting in 2019, a statistic that Syracuse fans hope to recreate in an orange uniform next year > The Syracuse basketball roster has seen serious upheaval since the Sweet 16 run. The team loses Kadary Richmond, a promising young point guard, to Seton Hall. Robert Braswell, a rotation striker, is also leaving the company, and today the young striker Woody Newton is committed to the state of Oklahoma after entering the transfer portal. Alan Griffin is swinging at the NBA Draft after a very up and down year in Syracuse, Marek Dolezaj is graduating and starting his professional career, and Quincy Guerrier is testing the NBA waters.

Jimmy Boeheim is the third transfer for the Orange , together with Symir Torrence from Marquette from Syracuse and the sharp-shooting striker Cole Swider from Villanova.
