Companies across NSW will continue to have access to the JobSaver program at a reduced price until the end of November, even if the Commonwealth withdraws its support as early as next month.
Prime Minister Gladys Berejiklian announced Thursday that the government would NSW « will go alone » to extend the JobSaver program by 15 percent of weekly payroll through the 30th Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said federal funding would wane and eventually stop once 80 percent of a state’s 16+ population is fully vaccinated weekly payroll cut to 30 percent of weekly payroll. Due to the current vaccination trends, this first phase could take place on October 10th.
Minimum and maximum payments should also be reduced if the 70 percent limit is exceeded. The minimum payment will decrease from $ 1,500 to $ 1,125, while the maximum payment will also decrease from $ 100,000 to $ 75,000 – a flat payment cut of 25 percent.
Grants will also decrease, this time by 30 percent, while grants for sole proprietorships drop from $ 1,000 to $ 750.
Once the state’s vaccination rate exceeds the 80 percent threshold above 16, Commonwealth grants will cease entirely.
Once the vaccination rate 80 percent is achieved, the NSW government will continue to fund the program, which will reduce funding from 30 percent to 15 percent of a company’s payroll.
Ms. Berejiklian said the extension should reassure companies across the state give that they can play a role in the economic reopening of the state.
“The continuation of JobSaver in the next two months will be companies across NS W give them the financial boost they need to face the challenge of reopening their doors, « said Ms. Berejiklian.
» The light at the end of the tunnel is so close and this support will help businesses and workers to the other side and prepare them for a fresh start. ”
NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the JobSaver renewal will put companies on the top as the state transitions from a support phase to its recovery phase.
« JobSaver has helped companies weather the storm of the recent outbreak, and now is the right time to plan for the future so we can get our economies back on track, » said Perrottet.
« I know [companies] want to open their doors across the state and am busy planning now that our roadmap is out.
» We are sticking with the companies and giving them the support they need to get the state back on the road to prosperity just weeks before reopening. «
