CM – Jockey Miguel Mena killed in a pedestrian accident in Louisville on Sunday evening


As first reported by Mary McGee of The Daily Racing Form’s, jockey Miguel Mena was killed on Sunday evening when he was hit by a car on I-64 in East Louisville.

According to the report Mena – who won the Fair Grounds Drivers’ Championship multiple times and was a top driver on the Kentucky circuit in recent history – was hit while walking on the busy Interstate Highway between the Blankenbaker and Hurstbourne Lane exchanges.

The news was confirmed by trainer Al Stall Jr., who was a close friend of Mena and one of the conditioners who used his riding services on many occasions in Kentucky and Louisiana, according to McGee.

Mena, 34, rode in his often described as brilliant career 2,079 winners.
