Transperth employees worked through the night to fix a technical malfunction on the Joondalup railway line that caused chaos in commuter traffic on Thursday afternoon.
The connections between Whitford and Stirling stations were closed shortly before noon when a crack was discovered in the tracks.
Rail replacement buses were needed to move thousands of commuters in the afternoon while technicians worked to repair the track.
At 5:30 am, trains between the two were running again Train stations, but Transperth warned passengers not to expect minor delays.
