The Gilas Pilipinas lost their last game in the preliminary round of the King Abdullah Cup when they lost 84:72 to Jordan-A at the Prince Hamza Hall in Amman on Saturday. Naturalized striker Cameron Forte proved to be a huge thorn in the side of Gilas as he helped thwart the Gilas comeback attempt on the final chant, scoring five straight points after the Filipinos had 4:47 to go to seven , 63-70. Forte finished with 22 points along with 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Ahmad Al Dwairi led Jordan-A with 23 points and nine boards when the hosting team finished second with a 3-1 defeat and advanced to the semi-finals. They would face the Gilas again on Sunday morning, who finished third with their 2-2 card. Jordan Heading was the high point for Gilas with 15 markers, while Cebuano striker Carl Tamayo had 14 points. Former two-time Cesafi MVP Rey Suerte scored 13 points and three assists while Justine Baltazar added 10. The Gilas, however, missed the usual strong performance of naturalized players Ange Kouame and Dwight Ramos as the former only had five while the latter remained goalless. (JNP)
