CM – Jorge Masvidal’s UFC return date & opponents finally revealed

On Monday October 11th, 2021, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported that the promotion will bring about a bout between No. 6 welterweight Jorge Masvidal and No. 3 Leon Edwards. According to Okamoto, UFC chief executive Hunter Campbell confirmed that the fight will take place on December 11th, 2021 at UFC 270.

Masvidal and Edwards have had each other in the crosshairs since their argument behind the scenes at UFC Fight Night 147 in March 2019. While « Gamebred » spoke to ESPN after his knockout win over Darren Till in the main event, he and Edwards got into the game, starting verbal and getting physical as the fighters got closer.

The moment brought one of Masvidal’s most famous Lines out and hit « Rocky » with a « three slice and soda ».

Edwards has one of the most impressive series in the UFC and is undefeated in its last 10 fights. He has defeated nine fighters in this current run, including former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone and Vicente Luque.

Earlier this year, the English competed against Belal Muhammad and the fight was called Not classified after Rocky stabbed the fighter in the eye.

Edwards has a professional MMA record of 19-3 and Rocky recently tweeted that he was waiting for a welterweight title bout and turned down a possible fight Masvidal, who has had a losing streak of two fights.

In his most recent win, Rocky defeated Diaz in a five-round competition at UFC 263 in June 2021 and won by unanimous decision.

Masvidal had a chance at UFC gold in his last two fights , playing against Usman at UFC 251 and UFC 261 in July 2020 and April 2021, respectively. In their first fight, The Nigerian Nightmare defeated « Gamebred » unanimously.
