The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals meet in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium on Thursday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to build on their 5-4 win over the New York Yankees in the series finals on Wednesday. Bo Bichette went ahead, going 3 to 5 with two solo homers, including the walk-off homer, to give the Jays the W. Alejandro Kirk, who also homered with two RBIs, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Rowdy Tellez each 2 for 4 went to the bowl. Cavan Biggio added a triple while Josh Palacios, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Marcus Semien each scored a base goal to end Toronto’s offensive as a team in the winning performance. T.J. Zeuch gave up four runs with four hits with two strokes over four innings of work without considering the decision. Rafael Dolis took the win and improved to 1-0 year-over-year by finishing 9th. Toronto hadn’t announced a starting pitcher at the time of this writing.

The Kansas City Royals will look to build on a 6-1 win over the Angels to end their streak. Carlos Santana and Salvador Perez each had a homerun and two RBIs, with Perez going 2 to 4 with a double and a solo homer while Santana scored a two-run shot. Cam Gallagher and Whit Merrifield each had an RBI to even out the Royals’ score in the winning performance, while Andrew Benintendi went 2 to 5 with a double. Michael A. Taylor and Hunter Dozier each went 2-4 in the bowl and Jarrod Dyson also added a base goal to end KC’s offensive as a team in the winning performance. Brad Keller took the win after allowing a four-hit run while scoring five over 5.2 innings of work. Jakob Junis will start here and is 0-0 this season with 0.00 ERA and 9 strikeouts. In his career, Junis is 1-1 with 3.66 ERA and 13 eliminations against Toronto.

We’re about three hours from first place and Toronto hasn’t announced a starter yet, but I’ll still be supporting the Blue Jays here. The Jays need some confidence after another straight win over the Yankees, and while Junis got off to a good start to the year, I’m a little tired of trusting him over the long term. I like it when the Jays keep their momentum with a win in Thursday’s opener.
