DALLAS – Rick Carlisle didn’t have much to do with the Mavericks whipping the Knicks 99-86 in the Garden on April 2nd, but he enjoyed the experience while watching from his Manhattan hotel room.
Carlisle was on COVID-19 safety logs that evening and his assistant Jamahl Mosley, a former Knicks coaching candidate, was running the Mavericks.
On Friday, at the rematch at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Carlisle trained again, but The Knicks was missing a key component: Swingman Alec Burks, who was back at the hotel after landing in the COVID-19 logs and is out indefinitely.
Carlisle, a former minor NBA striker who spent a season with the Knicks Played under Rick Pitino said he really enjoyed watching the April 2nd show. « I love watching the Knicks show, whether it’s Mike Breen or Kenny Albert » Carlisle said on Friday before the Knicks and Maveri cks competed against each other. « He’s great. Clyde Frazier – I would pay money to listen to him broadcast a game. He’s so great. It was interesting – what I found out when you heard the other team’s show – you get an interesting perspective on your team. I tried to make the most of it and was obviously very happy with the way the game went. «
» We stayed at a great hotel, « said Carlisle. “I spoke to my coach when it became known that I would have to stay at the hotel for the game. I said what about meals? He said just order room service and keep it on your room bill. At 6:30 am I called room service and they said room service was closed. That wasn’t good. I had to find out something else. «
Carlisle didn’t say what he did for dinner, but the NBA allowed him to practice the next game, April 3rd in Washington. The league said Carlisle’s test was » false positive « .
