Former leg spinner Kristen Beams wanted the India-Australia multiformat series to be named after Jhulan Goswami and Cathryn Fitzpatrick, the pace legends of the two countries.
Beams, which in 2015 had a Women’s Test for Australia, who played 30 ODIs and 18 T20Is between 2014 and 2017, said it would be fair recognition for two of the great players if the trophy were named after the duo.
« First, both Jhulan Goswami and Cathryn Fitzpatrick played all three formats that make up this series and their records each speak for themselves, « Beams said in an article published on cricket.com.au.
» Then there is their dominance of the sport. That did both of them and collectively captured 580 international wickets, which is an amazing number. «

Beams said that Goswami and Fitzpatrick were so dominant that it was incredibly difficult to get runs.
« They conducted their attacks, albeit very differently. Goswami has great pace and jumping ability with her size and that awkward length was a feature of her career, so the clubs were parked on her back foot, « she said.
» Fitzpatrick was bowling fast, the ball slid toward you before you could move, and she had the presence (some might call it intimidation) that dreams are made of. She was feared, and I say that as an absolute compliment. «
Beams also believed the couple made immense contributions to generations of fast-paced bowlers in their respective countries.
» Careers that have been long for many Bowler debuted for both India and Australia and had the chance to learn from the best. «
38-year-old Goswami, who made her India debut in 2002, has played in 12 Tests, 192 ODIs and 68 T20Is . She has taken 44 wickets in Tests, 240 in ODIs and 56 in T20Is.
Fitzpatrick, 53, who made her debut for Australia in 1991, played 13 Tests, 109 ODIs and 2 T20Is before retiring. She has 60 wickets in Tests, 180 in ODIs and none in T20Is.
Other former players have also suggested earlier that the names of legendary players should be named should an eternal trophy such as the Border Gavaskar trophy be named for the men’s teams .
Former Australian player Mel Jones suggested naming the trophy after Shantha Ragaswamy and Margaret Jennings.
