CM – Kyrgyzstan says it confiscated the Tajik border post during heavy fighting

Kyrgyzstan said Thursday it « seized » a border post in its Central Asian neighbor, Tajikistan, during the worst fighting on its disputed border in years.

Kyrgyzstan’s National Security Committee said in a statement that one of its special military units was stopping the border post Tajikistan confiscated after heavy shots by Tajik armed forces set fire to a Kyrgyz border post.

« Additional forces and assets are being mobilized on both sides along the entire perimeter of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, » said the Kyrgyz Security Committee.
