If you’re a movie buff or a little monster, you probably know that Lady Gaga takes Method Acting very seriously.
So much so that during the filming of House of Gucci, in which the superstar is the Italian Celebrity Patrizia Reggiani, who plays Patrizia Reggiani, asked for the presence of a psychiatric nurse on set because she thought it was « safer ».
She explained her approach in a recent interview with Variety and said that she lived as Reggiani throughout the filming have. “I was the same with ‘A Star Is Born’. I was always Ally, « said Gaga. “And that’s why I was always Patrizia. I always spoke with my accent. And even when I talked about things unrelated to the movie – I didn’t pretend Maurizio was waiting for me downstairs – I still lived my life. I just lived it as her. ”
Being Patrizia had an impact on Gaga. She continued, « I took the darkness home with me because her life was dark. » During the last few days of shooting, Gaga told the point of sale that she was looking for help from a psychologist on set. « I had a psychiatric nurse with me towards the end of the shoot, » she said. “Somehow I felt like I had to. I felt it was safer for me. ”
Still, the Oscar winner said she doesn’t want to“ glorify ”this approach to her craft. « I don’t think an actor should go to that limit, » she said. “And I keep wondering why I’m doing this. I’ve created some pretty extreme works of art over the course of my career – the things that I’ve exposed my body and mind to. It’s like a walnut sadness in my stomach when I tell you this. I don’t know why I am like this. I think the best answer I can give you is that I have some kind of romantic relationship to suffering for your art that I developed as a young girl and that just goes too far sometimes. And when it goes too far, it can be hard to break it in yourself. ”
She added that families may change the way they work in these environments in the future. “It’s no secret that I do anything for art,” said Gaga. “I’ll probably change that completely when I have a child, but I don’t have a child yet. I want to be so available and present for my children that it could be problematic for a child to be around if you behave like this. «
