LEICESTER, England: Leicester City defeated Watford 4-2 in the Premier League in heavy snowfall, which reduced visibility and made playing conditions difficult at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Watford coach Claudio Ranieri, the Leicester led to their only league title in 2015-16 against overwhelming odds, was warmly welcomed by the home fans, but expected a cold afternoon when former striker Jamie Vardy scored twice.

The win brings Leicester 18 points out of 13 Playing to provisional ninth place, while Watford remains in 16th place with 13 points.

The game started under relatively clear conditions and Leicester took an early lead due to a Watford mistake when William Troost-Ekong fell under one long ball so that Leicester’s James Maddison could sneak up behind and beat goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

Watford leveled 14 minutes later after Emmanuel Dennis at St rafraum was tripped by Wilfred Ndidi and Joshua King made no mistake beating Kasper Schmeichel on point.

But as the snowfall got heavier, Vardy put the home side ahead with two goals in eight minutes, both scored by Maddison, first Chop off the attacking Bachmann before he neatly headed home after a corner kick from the near post.

« It’s different (the weather), you can see that the referee has to stop it. These are things that you have to deal with. They have to stay professional and we did, « Vardy told Sky Sports.

» At one point your goalkeeper tried to call the referee off, but the seats have heated floors and we weren’t worried. «

A blanket of snow made the lush green pitch-white in the second half and when visibility faded, Dennis snatched the ball after an hour from Timothy Castagne, who retired to go one-on-one with Schmeichel, and scored 3-2 Controlled finish.

However, Leicester restored their two-goal cushion minutes later when Harvey Barnes jumped forward on a counterattack and knocked the ball into an empty net for Ademola Lookman.

King said Watford lost to a team that had shown more determination but the Norwegian striker complained about the snowfall which forced the referee to stop play in the second half so that field staff S chnee was able to clear the lines.

« It’s horrible to play in it, you have snow on your shoe and you feel heavy, » said King. « I’ve never seen a game like this. I couldn’t see anything, but it’s the same for both sides. »

The adverse weather had previously meant that Burnley’s home game against Tottenham Hotspur was canceled before kick-off.
