On Tuesday morning, English coach Gareth Southgate will announce his 26-man squad for the European Championship.
It has been 25 years since Southgate missed the penalty against Germany in the Euro96 semi-finals, which ultimately meant that England would be eliminated by that point.
With the semi-finals and final also at Wembley this year, the manager hopes to cast out some demons and ensure the three lions win their first trophy since 1966.
To that end, everyone he selects is being screened and there is already a possible decision that will cause dismay.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are said to believe that their right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be selected for the tournament.

While it’s true the youngster didn’t have the best campaigns for the Reds, he’s still a great performer and his omission could well end up biting Southgate.
