The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said , A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Calagatagan, Batangas in the early morning of July 24.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred around 4:49 a.m. It tracked the epicenter 10 miles southwest of Calatagan, Batangas.

The quake was tectonic in origin, meaning the quake was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.

Although no damage from this earthquake expected, Phivolcs said aftershocks are likely to occur.
