McDonald's is testing a technology that allows customers to order without having to speak to a representative on the other end of the drive-thru speaker system.

CHICAGO – IBM and the golden arches want to bring drive-thru into the future with automated order acceptance.

A new deal enables IBM to take over McD Tech Labs and helps McDonald’s with its automated drive-thru system perfect.

The fast food chain has already started testing the system in restaurants in the Chicago area.

With the help of IBM, McDonald’s hopes to expand its system language, dialect and menu variation skills.

According to previous reports, it will take about two years for the system to be deployed at all locations.
