Monica Turner was Mike Tyson’s wife during some of the most tumultuous times of his life. Turner and Tyson were married for five years from 1997 to 2003. Tyson’s second wife was a pediatrician with a private life.

Turner was born and raised in the Washington, DC area and, according to The Washington Post, is the half-sister of Michael S. Steele, former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland .

The two-part documentary « Mike Tyson: The Knockout » explores Tyson’s life and relationships. It aired at 8 p.m. on ABC. Easter time May 25th and June 1st 2021.

Turner and Tyson met Eddie Murphy at a party in 1990 who was loud The Sun played with Tyson’s first wife Robin Givens in Boomerang. Tyson was married to Givens at the time. The two were friends until their friendship became a relationship, according to Celeb Gossip.

Turner and Tyson were married in a quiet, Muslim ceremony and only invited their close friends and family members to attend the special day, Celeb reported Gossip. They married on April 19, 1997.

Their relationship lasted seven years before they tied the knot, the media agency reported. They had two children, son Amir and daughter Rayna, the point of sale reported. The first meeting of Turner and Tyson took place at Murphy’s New Jersey home, according to The Washington Post.

Turner and Tyson’s relationship survived his rape conviction and prison sentence, according to The Sun. Turner visited Tyson in jail every two weeks, and their relationship grew during the period, the news agency said. The rape conviction wasn’t the only prison sentence Tyson served during his relationship with Turner .

During the five-year marriage of Turner and Tyson, she gave birth to a son and daughter. Amir is 25 and his sister Rayna is 23. Amir Tyson is an entrepreneur according to his Instagram profile. The profile says he is the CEO of Debonair Attire.

Amir Tyson was born and raised in Bathesda, Maryland and, according to his biography, has a degree in broadcast journalism from American University. He also has a minor in history, said his bio, and started his business while in college. In his bio he doesn’t mention his famous father.

While Turner did not publicly discuss her failed marriage to Tyson, the Washington Post said it accused Tyson of adultery and frivolous spending. She filed for divorce in 2002, and the divorce was finalized in 2003, the article reads.

Turner’s time in the limelight was largely limited to her marriage to Tyson. The Washington Post discussed her divorce in a 2003 article about how she avoided the limelight. She didn’t talk about her marriage or divorce at the time.

« Turner, who friends call a private individual, has spoken little in public about her tumultuous relationship with the boxer in their 12 years of advertising and marriage, » reported the Washington Post at the time of their divorce.

She grew up in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, DC, the Post reported. Turner was a pediatrician in Bethesda, Maryland, the newspaper said. The article states that Tyson spent little time with Turner during their marriage and lived mostly at his Las Vegas home, adding that Turner would stay at their Bethesda home after the divorce.
