Monaco: Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Friday when his quarter-final opponent Alejandro Davidovich withdrew after losing the first set 7-5.
Tsitsipas, world number five, will play his sixth Masters 1000 semi-final on Saturday and his first in the Principality against the Belgian David Goffin or the Englishman Dan Evans, the conqueror of Novak Djokovic.
The Spaniard Davidovich struggled with an injury to his left thigh and tried one Roll your armpits when it hit the target value. Tsitsipas pounced on a winning backhand.
But at 3-3, Davidovich asked the doctor to treat his left thigh. He immediately made the first break in the game when Tsitsipas showed signs of annoyance until he received a warning of a curse.
Tsitsipas immediately fell back and when Davidovich struggled he broke again to end the set and the match.
