The azulcremas are entering this finale and are looking forward to a month full of great challenges. The first is winning their eighth continental championship, which again confirms that they are the most successful team in this competition.

Something will have to be between these two teams as neither side in this competition has ever lost if they reach the final. America has won seven times, which they have achieved in this stage, while Monterrey has won four times. The peculiarity of this game is that the Mexican international Miguel Layún is crowned champion regardless of who wins.

The former Watford man will earn a winner’s medal as he was part of Monterrey’s squad in the first part of this competition and currently plays for Club America.

Remember that the format of this tournament has changed and there is now a one-off final instead of the home and away game played last year.

America has a different mindset than Rayados. Las Águilas starts this encounter with a clear lead at the top of the table and is about to secure the top position in the Liguilla.

This error rate enables Santiago Solari to concentrate on this game. For this reason, Club América will be fully focused on the prize in front of them.

The last time Monterrey competed against America in a title fight was in the Liguilla final in Apertura 2019.

On that Javier Aguirre’s men can fall back on and recover from a series of defeats of four games, in which they have clearly lost pace in recent weeks.

They are a completely different team than the one that Cruz Azul in the semifinals with 5 : 1 eliminated. It’s also worth noting that as the highest paid coach in the league with the highest payroll, Aguirre will face a lot of pressure.

The return on these investments is close to zero, as the only other time Monterrey has been close to the league is in last season in Liguilla against Santos Laguna.

Monterrey probably XI: Esteban Andrada, Stefan Medina, César Montes, Sebastián Vegas and Erick Aguirre; Celso Ortíz, Carlos Rodríguez, Alfonso González; Jesús Gallardo, Maxi Meza, Rogelio Funes Mori

Club America probably XI: Guillermo Ochoa; Jorge Sánchez, Jordan Silva, Emmanuel Aguilera, Luis Fuentes; Pedro Aquino, Richard Sánchez, Alvaro Fidalgo; Sebastian Córdova, Roger Martinez, Henry Martin
