Everyone’s favorite detectives will be back when “Nash Bridges” releases a new film in 2021 that could serve as a backdoor pilot for a restart of the series. The film premieres on Saturday, November 27th at 9 p.m. ET / PT on the US network.

The film brings original cast members Don Johnson and Cheech Marin back as elite investigators for the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. The cast also includes Joe Dinicol, Diarra Kilpatrick, Angela Ko, Paul James, Alexia Garcia, Bonnie Sommerville and Jeff Perry.
Produced by Village Roadshow Television, the film was written by Bill Chais and directed by Greg Beeman. It is based on the original series by Carlton Cuse. Don Johnson, Bill Chais, Greg Beeman and Carlton Cuse will be executive producers. « Nash Bridges » originally aired six seasons (1996-2001) on CBS.
In the film, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown appears as one of Joe’s (Marin) customers in the pharmacy where Joe is is working. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Johnson said it was great to work with Brown because they were “good friends” in real life.
“I love Willi. We are good friends. We worked closely together during the first run, « said Johnson, adding, » We always pissed off each other. If he was in the papers because he hadn’t built enough bike lanes, that day (the Critical Mass, a gathering of cyclists on the last Friday of every month) I would call and say, ‘Hey, can you? Get those bikes out of the way? « And he hung up. »
Johnson also said he might see a number of « Nash Bridges » television films all shot in San Francisco.
« We did just shot as the city woke up from its COVID slumber, « said Johnson. “During the course of our filming, I noticed that the traffic has increased, there are more pedestrians, more shops are open, restaurants are full. I like to think that in some ways we did a small part in reopening the city and getting the city going again.
“We’d love to do more. Look at San Francisco. Gosh, it’s like you can put a camera anywhere and pretty much get a picture. … That’s just the nice thing about it. The cultural diversity and food and entertainment and theater and so on. I mean, it’s just one of the greatest cities in the world. ”
The new“ Nash Bridges ”movie premieres on Saturday, November 27th at 9pm. East and Pacific Time on USA.
