CM – NFL World is responding to rumors about Aaron Rodgers’ salary claim

Although Aaron Rodgers has claimed his argument with the Packers had nothing to do with money, a new report suggests otherwise.

During the ongoing dispute between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, reports have repeatedly suggested that the conflict was not about money. However, new information suggests that may not quite be the case.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, a team that has expressed an interest in Rodgers believes the 2020 MVP will see 90 million over the next two seasons US dollars with full guarantee. That amount would be the annual salary of Patrick Mahomes, which has become the benchmark for top quarterbacks in the NFL.

« According to a league source, at least one team who is (or has had) an interest in Rodgers believes that he wants a guarantee of $ 90 million over two years, ”wrote Florio. “That would hit Patrick Mahomes’ $ 45 million high water mark. With the $ 45 million average only for the first two years and everything guaranteed, the structure required to pay this type of money would practically tie Green Bay’s hands through 2022 and possibly 2023.  »

« While some have said it’s not about the money, the money is becoming a way to fix an issue that former teammates continue to refer to as fixable. By giving Rodgers the type of contract that leaves the Packers with no choice but to (1) keep Rodgers and (2) keep Jordan Love in the bank, the team necessarily sets the clock back to the draft before 2020, before the team clumsily traded in for love without first telling Rodgers. (If I had told him first, it probably wouldn’t have gotten much better.) «

At least one team that has (or at least had) an interest in Aaron Rodgers thinks he’ll get 90 million in the next two years Would like to receive US dollars with full guarantee; That’s the kind of money that strips him of his status year after year and forces the Packers to keep him. https://t.co/xpzUOYvqbu

Sunday’s report has created more confusion about Rodgers’ future in Green Bay, as many have wondered if the Packers will be ready to raise that kind of money. Others wondered if the 37-year-old’s reported demand would open up the possibility of him playing elsewhere next year.

I’m skeptical of everything PFT writes, but that makes sense. What wouldn’t make sense would be paying @ AaronRodgers12 that kind of money. pic.twitter.com/yP5wcalbAu

It’s funny how connected people like Schefter, Demovsky & Dunne said for months that this situation with Aaron Rodgers was NEVER all about money.

In the past few days, everyone else who has been pushing the « Rodgers wants to play in the UK » narrative has slowly changed their minds.

According to reports, the Packers were offering Rodgers a two-year extension this off-season would have held in Green Bay for the next five years and made him the highest paid quarterback in football. He refused, however, which created further confusion about what he wanted.

A major milestone in the Rodgers off-season saga will come later this week when the Packers begin training camp. The quarterback’s status for the event remains unknown, but the NFL world will have an answer on its availability soon enough.
