Pakistan’s selectors announced a 15-man roster for next month’s Twenty20 World Cup on Monday but defied demands to include veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik despite the team battling medium-order punches for two years Since Misbah-ul-Haq took over as head coach in September 2019, Pakistan has tried 17 different players in intermediate order, but none of them have succeeded.

This led to demands for inclusion of 39-year-old Malik, who played the last of his 116 Twenty20 internationals in June 2020 but chief selection champion Mohammad Wasim said specialists would be preferred.
