CM – Packers recover in week 2 – UWM Post

Week 2 saw a change in pace and confidence for the Green Bay Packers. After an ugly 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, the Packers rebounded with a 35-17 win over the Detroit Lions.

Aaron Rodgers ripped open the Lions defense, completing 22 passes at 27 Try for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Aaron Jones had a total of 115 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were in the air. Davante Adams had a fine day too, catching eight passes for 121 yards. Robert Tonyan also landed a touchdown. On defense, De’Vondre Campbell brought out Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the fourth quarter.

For the Lions, Goff completed 26 passes in 36 attempts for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Goff led the team at 46 yards on four tries, but he had two fumbles and lost one. T. J. Hockenson had a productive day, catching eight passes for 66 yards and one touchdown. Quintez Cephus in his sophomore year was also productive, catching four passes for 63 yards and one touchdown.

The Lions were leading 17:14 at halftime, but failed in the second half. The Packers ended the game with 21 unanswered points.

This game was completely different from Week 1, Rodgers looked a lot more comfortable and made impressive throws, including his touchdown pass to Tonyan.

« I think so. there are even more overreactions that happen from week to week than at the beginning of the game, « Rodgers said of his critics in the post-game press conference. « So it’s nice to come out and do a good job and get the trolls off our backs for at least a week. »

Jones stole the show on his big day, wearing a necklace that held his father’s ashes who died of complications from COVID-19 earlier this year. Jones has stated that he is dedicating this season to his late father.

« … But if there was a game to lose, my father would have wanted me to lose it there, so I know he’s smiling » said Jones about his necklace in the post-game press conference.

The Packers’ defense looked better this week, especially in the second half. In the first half, the defense gave up 17 points, including two pass touchdowns. Kevin King struggled again and gave up a 46 yard pass in the third game of the game. First-round pick Eric Stokes played well with three pass defenses, including a nice game where he was beaten and caught up with the receiver. The defense also forced two fumbles, got one and got an interception.

The win was not without defeat as the Packers lost their best active lineman in Elgton Jenkins. Jenkins went down with an ankle injury, leaving a huge hole on the offensive. However, Jenkins’ injury is minor and he shouldn’t miss much time.

The Packers will return to the field in week three of Sunday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers (2-0). The 49ers are favored with three points; However, they will do without three running backs and two defensive linemen will be listed as questionable.

The Packers and 49ers will both be without key players in their week 3 match that could become a « whoever » competition more « in a game that is sure to be a war of attrition.
