CM – Paul Kelly brings new east coast tour to Mackay

One of Australia’s finest singer-songwriters will be bringing his On the Road Again tour to Mackay with pre-sale tickets next week ahead of a general release.

Paul Kelly and Frontier Touring have announced a 24-day east coast tour, where the singer will be reunited with his band for a number of shows in July and August.

Kelly and his entire band, including Vika and Linda Bull, Bill McDonald, Peter Luscombe, Ash Naylor and Cameron Bruce, will be reunited on May 14th Playing at MECC on July, based on a full 2020 that included two new album releases and numerous livestream appearances.

« The band, the crew and I have missed each other very much for the past 18 months as shows after shows first postponed and then canceled, « said Kelly.

 » We stuck our toe in the water with a one-off New Year’s Eve show for TV, but now we’re really looking forward to stretching out night after night n and playing music. «

Kelly will take the stage in Caloundra, Toowoomba, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns, Port Douglas, Meeniyan, Hobart, Warrnambool, Bendigo, Geelong, Ballarat, Merimbula, Thirroul, Bathurst, Newcastle, Forster, Coffs Harbor, enter. Tamworth and Yamba.

Kelly was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997 and is one of Australia’s greatest performers and songwriters with 25 studio albums, several film soundtracks and two live albums. In Life Is Fine 2017, Kelly finally hit his first ARIA # 1 album and received ARIA Awards for Best Man, Best Contemporary Adult Album, Best Cover, and Best Engineer of the Year.

This 15-track Album is performed, recorded, and published from home in Lockdown through its social networks. It features songs and poems, some written by other artists, that explore lockdown-related topics such as cooking, dry pubs, hope, insomnia, and breakup. while other songs recall singers and poets like Bill Withers, John Prine and Bruce Dawe who recently left.

Never stopping, in 2020 Kelly also released the album Please Leave Your Light On with the Australian pianist and composer Paul Grabowsky. The studio album contains 12 adaptations of Kelly’s originals, whereby Grabowsky describes the collaboration as primarily driven by a mutual and ongoing “fascination for music in its many forms”.
