Perth’s maximum temperature on Christmas Day continues to be revised upwards – and is now expected to be the hottest ever.
That’s the word from the Bureau of Meteorology, whose latest forecast is that mercury will be around on Christmas Day a whopping 43 degrees.
And as if that weren’t bad enough, a maximum of 44 degrees are expected on Boxing Day, and even 40 degrees on Monday.
This month the average maximum temperature so far has been 29.2 Degrees – about the level of the long-term December average of 29.4.
But today’s maximum temperature of 38 degrees and the coming temperatures of 40 should cause us to exceed this mark.
We should be on Hitting 43 degrees on Christmas Day would break the all-time record of 42.0 degrees set in 1968. « The cool change will likely come around Wednesday, when it’s expected to be 35, » said Huntington.
