ABU DHABI: Peshawar Zalmi cricketers Haider Ali and Umaid Asif were suspended from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final against the Multan Sultans on Thursday after they admitted to breaching health and safety protocols by meeting people outside their designated biosafe bladder and also failing to adhere to mandatory social distancing.
The incident occurred on Wednesday and the decision was made early Thursday morning by the tournament’s COVID-19 management committee, which consists of Barrister Salman Naseer (PCB, Chief Operating Officer) and Babar Hamid (Director – Commercial and PSL 6 Head).
« It was found that the two cricketers had never interacted with other members of the cadre and at any time after the incident were brought into a room isolation « , it says in an official announcement.
The chairman of the Selectors Muhammad Wasim has Appointed by two Tests in Jamaica in consultation with captain Babar Azam and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq Sohaib Maqsood to replace Haider Ali for the two tours on which the Pakistani men’s cricket team will play alongside three ODIs and eight T20Is.
Sohaib has an outstanding PSL in which he has so far achieved 363 runs in 11 games with an average of 40.33 and a hit rate of almost 153.
Sohaib has represented Pakistan in 26 ODIs and 20 T20Is, his last T20I appearance was in January 2016 in Hamilton against New Zealand.
