Procter & Gamble announced on Friday, December 17th, announced that it has carried out a voluntary recall on some of its products. The items affected are hair care brands that were sold nationwide through retail stores and online in the US.
According to Reuters, Procter & Gamble initiated the recall following the discovery of benzene, a cancer-causing or cancer-causing chemical, in some products. including shampoos and dry conditioners, issued.
The presence of this chemical is risky for consumers as exposure through inhalation, skin, or oral exposure can lead to certain types of cancer such as leukemia, blood cancer of the bone marrow, and other blood diseases that can be life threatening – Menacing.
P&G mentioned some herbal essences and Pantene products in addition to some of the discontinued variations of the Old Spice and Hair Food brands. The recent recall also affects some water and Aussie items. It is fortunate that the American consumer goods company headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, has not yet received any reports of adverse incidents related to the recall.
« According to recent reports that indicated traces of benzene in some aerosol spray products , we have started a review of our entire portfolio of aerosol products, ”P&G stated in a press release released on Friday. « Although none of our products contain benzene, our review has shown that unexpected amounts of benzene came from the propellant that the product sprinkled out of the can. »
Procter & Gamble said nothing is more important to the company than the safety of consumers and the quality of all the products they sell and distribute. The company also made it clear that other Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essences, Hair Food and Waterl <ss products that are not on the recall list are safe and can be used continuously as intended.
» The vast majority of our products are not part of this recall, including mousses, hairsprays, liquid shampoos, liquid conditioners, styling products, treatments and unaffected aerosol dry shampoo sprays, « added the company.
