The internet has taught me one thing that it is very difficult to disturb cows.
They are masters of the cold, determined in the simplicity by which they live their lives. They eat grass, they wave flies away with their tails and raise their young. Simple. Complete. Not even blasting Doom Metal over their eardrums is enough to drive them away from their unique life goals. They do what they want and fuck the rest.
In fact, their coolness even applies to decidedly un-cool situations: for example, when transporting air over the Swiss Alps. This happened to some cows who had injured themselves on the uppermost meadows of the mountain region. They couldn’t run back down for medical help and attend an annual cattle parade, instead they were lifted high into the air by a helicopter.
And I mean, just watch this footage and be amazed at the stoic one again Rest of the humble cow.
Cows that were injured during their summer stay in the high Alps of Switzerland were transported downhill by airlift.
Particularly noteworthy is the cow, which poops massively during air transport. Imagine hiking across the Swiss Alps surrounded by the most beautiful natural scenery imaginable, only to ruin your awe of a cow dung landing right on your head.
The video throws up some interesting ones Questions about how much humans should intervene in nature, especially given the airlift being held for something as insignificant as a cattle parade. Should humans really intervene so directly in the world of the cow? Are the cows’ preferences being denied? Should we always respect the preferences of living animals? Isn’t that some form of harm?
