NEAR CARSON (CBSLA) – A preliminary 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Carson area just before 8 p.m. Friday night.
Shocks from the earthquake were felt in several areas, including Santa Monica , Beverly Hills, Culver City, Torrance, and Studio City.
Initially, no injuries or extensive damage were reported, but officials nonetheless urged locals to prepare a plan for future earthquakes and possible aftershocks.
LA County has a Shake Alert app for Android and the App Store that notifies users when earthquakes are detected and tremors are expected in their area.
