London: Pep Guardiola thanked Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp for inspiring him to become a better manager after winning the Manchester City Premier League title.
City was on Tuesday for the third time in four seasons crowned champions when Manchester United lost to Leicester and succeeded Klopp’s Liverpool.
Klopp described Guardiola as the best manager in the world at a press conference on Wednesday, and the Catalan was full of compliments in return.
« Jürgen was of course an inspiration for me, » said Guardiola. « He made me a better manager through his teams in Dortmund and Liverpool. He made me think a lot about games and opponents. Thank you very much. » Guardiola announced that he and his players had lost celebrated with pizza for runner-up United at an impromptu party in their training complex.
« We came here in our bladder. We drank a little, we danced, we hugged a lot, we remembered it how good it was. Then 15 pizzas came at 11:30 am and that was the best moment of the night. «
City’s success this season, which also included making it to the Champions League final and a triumph Belonging to the League Cup came after Guardiola signed a new deal in November.
