While Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite were likely the main attractions of today’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase at E3, Microsoft ended the day with an entirely new reveal. The final announcement for the day – if we don’t count the surprise appearances in the mini-fridge – was the reveal of Redfall, a new first-person shooter from the studio behind Prey and Dishonored: Arcane Austin.
More precisely, Redfall is a co-op first person shooter that takes inspiration from others in the genre like Left 4 Dead. This time, however, instead of zombies, we’re fighting an island full of vampires. These are not just normal vampires, either, but vampires who wanted to become the monsters they are because they knew immortality was part of the deal.
These vampires have taken over the island of Redfall and it’s up to our team of four riflemen to do something on the island. At this point, we’re not really sure why the four heroes spotted in today’s reveal trailer are on Redfall.
The game’s four heroes include Layla Ellison, who has telekinetic skills; Jacob Boyer, a vampire-eyed sniper and a ghostly raven; Remi de la Rosa, a robotics expert who appears to have protective, empathic skills; and Devinder Crousley, a paranormal investigator and inventor.
While there aren’t many details about Redfall yet, we do know that the game can be played solo or with friends in co-op with up to four players. We haven’t seen any Redfall gameplay yet, but the theatrical trailer that debuted today is certainly a compelling argument for the game. Redfall will be released for Xbox Series X and PC in summer 2022.
