Real Madrid brought the gap between them and La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid back to two points when they finished 2nd at Osasuna at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium thanks to goals from Eder Militao and Casemiro : 0 defeated.
Militao, who saved two Sergio Herrera headers in the first half, beat the goalkeeper with another one in the 76th minute and Casemiro’s goal doubled the lead four minutes later.
The victory for second-placed Zinedine Zidane came after Atletico had a five-point lead with a 1-0 win at Elche on Saturday.Third-placed Barcelona, three points behind Real, are in Valencia on Sunday , and Sevilla, another point in fourth place, will host Athletic Bilbao on Monday.
Four changes to Real’s side after the 1-1 draw in the Champions League against Chelsea included a first start since J. anuar for Eden Hazard, who missed the goal in the third minute.
Thibaut Courtois saved an attempt by Chimy Avila at the other end before Casemiro tried his luck with a shot from his own half just before the quarter of an hour. </ After Courtois dealt with a delivery from Manu Sanchez, Real was denied by Herrera with two fine saves in quick succession as he blocked a Hazard shot and a Militao header.
And there were more soon after good job by Herrera in saving another head attempt from Militao.
Vinicius Jr. then shot into Herrera’s side netting and Avila had the ball in the Real net just before the break, but the attempt was ruled out because of offside. </ After the break, in Real's attempts to break the impasse, Militao and Rodrygo shot far before the former finally defeated Herrera by connecting with Isco's corner. Casemiro then added the second and sent the ball past Herrera after being fed by Karim Benzema.
