Mobile app data analytics firm Sensor Tower reported Wednesday that Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, Netmarble’s smartphone game based on Level 5’s Ni no Kuni game series, had sales of over 100 million in its first 11 days US dollars scored. The game reached this milestone faster than Niantic’s Pokémon GO, which did so in 12 days.

During the first 11 days of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, the title ranked second in global mobile game revenue at approximately $ 101.3 million. Japan accounted for about 45% of that number with sales of about $ 45.6 million. South Korea accounted for about 35% and Taiwan for about 15.7%. Title # 1 was Tencent’s Honor of Kings. Sensor Tower found Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds tops the list of gaming revenue outside of China.
The main character in the story is a beta tester for « Project N », a virtual reality game developed by « Ichi no Kunis » Mirai Company. The world of « Project N » is known as « Ni no Kuni ». The MMORPG features real-time hack-and-slash gameplay for player-versus-enemy and player-versus-player modes. The game has five character classes: villain, destroyer, witch, engineer and swordsman. The developers of Netmarble’s MMORPG Lineage 2: Revolution develop the game with Unreal Engine 4.
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds retains the series’ signature animated aesthetic. The gameplay revolves around a player-based community known as the « Kingdom » that allows players to work together, compete against each other and form guilds. Players can also collect around 100 ghosts known as « imazen » to train them.
Level 5 debuted the fantasy role-playing game Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for the PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2011, after a Ni no Kuni: Shikkoku no Madōshi game for Nintendo DS in 2010 and a game for Japanese mobile phones. Namco Bandai Games then released Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch outside of Japan in 2013. The RPG contains cut scenes from Studio Ghibli.
A remastered version of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was released for PlayStation 4 and PC in September 2019, and the original Switch version of the game Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was released on the same day.
Bandai Namco Entertainment will physically and digitally release the game Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom on Switch as Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – Prince’s Edition on September 17th in America and Europe
